One day versus more than 400 years: Without Sanctuary

If you follow this link, you will see the epitome of human depravity, committed by Americans against Americans and celebrated as spectacle. I share it because we all too easily forget in a post 9/11 world just how abusive we have been and, arguably, continue to be to non-Caucasian Americans. I grow weary with all the mock patriotism, all the genuflecting to icons of America that, really, do not deserve to be worshiped. Dana's family and my family have given much blood to the causes of this nation, but neither of us flinch from acknowledging our transgressions. So if you don't have the stomach for viewing these images, fine, but don't lecture me about how "black" people need to respect the flag and the anthem. They lived for generations without sanctuary in this country. IMHO, you might want to cut a brother or sister some slack? Food for thought:
