First Blush
Interplay of night and day
Stark…primary white light
Versus deep shadow
null, void, pitch black…
Back in the day tv hues
No confusion between
Good and bad…hats
Tell the tale every time.
But I’m addlepated as you
Rise before me, shaded
Jaded, cast in darkness,
Seeking out its mystery
I have a history, you know
I fear you do, too, sooo...
I swear I would kiss you
If I could find your mouth

ReplyDeleteWell done! :-) And I really like how it looks like this is written on the wood behind!
ReplyDeleteGreat flow of ideas in the verse!

Wow! I dig the cut of your jib. Seems the contrast of light and shadow moved us both. This was fun.
ReplyDeleteI love the reference to "back in the day tv hues". Fantastic last line too.

She is a bit of a bearded lady.. or let's hope it IS just a shadow... let us know after you kiss her! ha ha
Sweet... I love the use of addlepated here.
ReplyDeleteI adore the phrase: addlepated! :)
ReplyDeleteFABULOUS! It never occurs to me to converse with the subject in the prompt photo, but this is VERY effective. One of my favorites of the day, not only for the use of this device, but also because the tone is so saucy. Love it!
ReplyDeleteOh, so much from one photograph. The words are perfect for the photograph and the last bit tops it off like the whipped cream and cherry on a sundae.
ReplyDeletei guess you can't make-out with a shadow/
ReplyDeleteExcellent!
ReplyDeleteCharming word, addlepated! Love the way you used it here .. growing up in the 50s I am SO remembering our black and white!!! Happy Holidays.

ReplyDeleteI really liked this! The interplay of light and dark cuts right to the heart of the image, and then that awesome last line -- well done.
