Spring Valley Wildlife Area is a wetlands area in the Little Miami River Valley. I go to the nearby shooting range every now and then to punch some holes in paper (great stress reliever!), but today The Bug and I went for a walk around what looks to be one ginormous frog pond! Alack, I saw no bullfrogs, though we heard them, but we did see wildflowers, dragonflies, butterflies, birds, and more. We had a nice nature walk, though it turned a wee bit muggy on us. Enjoy the pictures!
What a gorgeous place for a stroll. Love the Red Admiral!! :c)
ReplyDeleteWith all that standing water do you have any problems with mosquitos there? We have plenty this year and now an outbreak of West Nile Virus, too.

Your pictures are exquisite, Michael. I love the flower close ups. Field flowers are beautiful here in August. Great "bug" (not Dana) close ups too. Thanks for sharing this. <3
ReplyDeleteThose big lily pads look like perfect platforms for bullfrogs.
ReplyDeleteLovely pictures, as usual. I especially like the butterfly, and am a big fan of lily pads with their blooms. Ribbit....
