Red-shouldered Hawks Overhead!

 Hawk #1
Note how the light shines through the feathers!
Red-shouldered hawks have the distinctive light "crescent" near their wing-tips
Wow!

 Hawk #2

 Awesome!

 Classic Buteo hawks, soaring, circling
Using their tails for stability while they scan for prey
Thick bodies with broad, strong wings.

Oh...here comes one making a straight-line pass overhead!
 Flaps to gain altitude...Glorious!
Thanks for the show!

A magical late afternoon out back.

  2. Beautiful! We will soon have "Hawk Watch" as the large birds fly over the gorges near the escarpment. What a lovely sight!

  3. Returning from vacation in France, I found that Autumn had fallen here in MInnesota, too. Kind of bittersweet, given the very late spring and short summer, but fall remains my very favorite time of year.
