May 4, 2012: Super Moon Emerges
May 5: Zenith
May 6: Fare Thee Well, Super Moon
As you may have noticed, I dropped out for awhile. Too much going on. I have submitted a poetry chapbook for consideration in a contest or for publication if I'm not a prize winner. I have revised an article for inclusion in a collection of essays on the post-emancipation South. I have finished up a dismal spring semester at my university, in which I had no energy for teaching, but in which I did receive confirmation of tenure and promotion! And I wrote letters for my most promising major, who graduated with honors, including the university's Gold Medal award for overall leadership and academic excellence, and who now goes on to grad school! In short, the candle has been burning at both ends, and I am a fried pie. So I give you what I have: the moon, and a super one at that!

it was overcast on the horizon here so we didn't get to see it until it had risen above the clouds. these pictures are great.
I've been spending less time here myself. Just not getting enough accomplished, have things I need to do, and I expect it will only get worse when they finally fund the projects they have promised.
oh, and congratulations on tenure.
Congratulations to you, and mazel tov on the blessings scattered around you. I happen to like fried pies, if there's any comfort to be found in that. :) I wish you luck, as well, on your submissions, and pray that at the very least your work is held in high esteem, as it should be.
Awesome moon shots. I completely forgot about it. It's a good thing I'm well practiced in living vicariously.
I love my fried pie - let's just hope that I don't get confused & .... Um, I'm going to stop right there with my analogy :)
I know how it feels when summer finally arrives and you get a break from all the hours that are teaching. And, don't you feel wonderful when one of your students performs so well? Kudos on your excellent tutelage, dear friend.
Congratulations on the tenure and promotion. Well deserved, I'm sure. I hope the chapbook thing works out for you, too!
Your moon shots are exemplary. All the colors of Selene. Lunar poetry in a river of photos. This is a very creative take on the prompt, Michael!! You rock!!
Beautiful photographs. You have indeed been busy. Now I have Pink Floyd running through my head.
"There's someone in my head but it's not me
And if the cloud bursts, thunder in your ear
You shout and no one seems to hear
And if the band you're in starts playing different tunes
I'll see you on the dark side of the moon."
An excellent series of photographs of La Luna, Michael.
Congratulations on tenure! A blessing indeed.
And "fried pie". What images and ideas that conjures up.
