Feverish...

This week began at a feverish pace, as we escorted our history club to the
Fair at New Boston!

An encampment reflecting material culture of circa1800
 They had artillery
 Indians

 Festivities
 Oxen

Kentucky militia
 And their nemesis, Tecumseh!

And a mock battle...
BOOM!
Our back yard has been feverish, too!
Silly mama squirrel
Being very squirrelly
And eating as if there will never be another sunflower seed
Toads! The bit of rain we've had encouraged them to come out of hiding
They have plenty to eat...
Hummingbirds are feeding like mad!
Pinkie is still blooming
We've enjoyed our tomatoes! Meet Spooky Mater, lol!
More on the vine
And finally, a little goldfinch struggling to fly...I hope he makes it.

Meanwhile, I have a fever/head cold. I hate being sick, so I'm pouting. HELLO! Man, here ;-)

My poor sweetie - I feel so bad for you! But we did have a good time on Sunday. And I love our back yard menagerie. Now, hope you don't mind sleeping on the couch tonight :)

Those pics of the re-enactment are great. I can't believe how much work must have gone into that. Still, I have to confess the squirrel and the toads are the favs. I wonder if they ever dress up in costumes and re-enact... oh, never mind!

Hope you feel better soon!

Oh, I am a firm believer in wallowing about and indulging in Self Pity when one is sick. At least for a day or two. Being sick is the worst. Acting brave and denying your misery is silly--you're sick!

Drink lots of clear liquids; load up on vitamin B complex and C; get good rest; and whatever you do, don't spread it around! ;-)

Belatedly, thanks for sharing your Sunday sojourn. I've never been to a reenactment of any sort, though I enjoy history and learning about "things and people that were."

Feel better. I'm sending healing vibes and prayers through cyberspace toward that end. (Isn't that a great phrase, "toward that end?")

Your tomatoes look luscious. Our went to the birds, literally, and otherwise shriveled on the vine. Maybe next year!

Enjoy the last vestiges of summer in the yard.

The Kentucky milita certainly has a good eye for . . . natives.
