Birdbath Saturday

On this overcast, humid day, the little birdies were happy
to stop by for a drink, but not a dip in the pool!

"That water looks cold...stick a toe in and see..."
"Sure...what's a toe?"
"Here's lookin' at you, kid..."
"Ah, got the place all to myself..."
"For about three seconds..."
"Pool party!"
"Where'd everybirdy go?"
"Who's the pretty bird?"
"Lookin' good makes me thirsty..."
"My best side..."
"That last guy was kinda stuck on himself..."

LOL - the birds have been CRAZY in our back yard today. Love the captions sweetie - I think you've captured their personalities quite well.

LOL... those canary yellow goldfinches can be quite narcissistic! I know they all appreciated the cool drink.

Dear C.L,
Amazing pictures! Well presented. I have never seen one of those golfinches in my life! Gorgeous.

I have a soft spot for sparrows, though. So brown, so cheerful, so busy.

Thanks for a smile.

Dear Ann T.

My pleasure! I love the sparrows...thanks to my mom, I will ever have the sound of George Beverly Shea (think Billy Graham Crusades) singing "for His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me..." They are such busy birds! Some of them have learned to manipulate the finch feeders, too. Finches can eat upside down, so dedicated finch feeders have the feeding holes below the perches. My sparrows swing upside down, get seeds, then swing back up to swallow! Evolution at work. Yes, I mentioned evangelical Christian revivalism and evolution in the some comment...
