General Hancock, Having a Ball

You know me...I am a pirate at heart.
But when necessary, I can clean up a bit, and tonight/tomorrow is just such an occasion.
My darling friend Tess at Willow Manor is hosting a ball!
It wouldn't do to sail up the Scioto as a pirate to steal her heart
(not from her own ball, anyway...bad luck to steal the hostess).
And so I am transforming myself into a general...
a leader of men and wooer of women!
Please allow me to introduce my Civil War doppelganger...
General Winfield Scott Hancock, at your service.
One can see the strain of hard fighting on his features in this portrait.
On the other hand, he has his own toy soldier!
And a superb re-enactor (no, that isn't me!) to play him:
And, thanks to this dapper gent
(named John Deppen...I know, right? Too close to Johnny Depp)
I give you an image of my attire for the impending proceedings!

M'Lady, may I have the honor of this dance?

Oh, and my mode of transportation?

Why, The General, of course!

Your train! How awesome is that?

Oh, my! There is most definitely a resemblance between you and the general! A man in uniform makes me simply weak in the knees. If I swoon when we dance, will you catch me?

From a pirate to a general! Either way, a man in uniform, I would say. I'm hoping you can keep things from getting out of control...

A fine get-up! Hope you don't poke Dana's eye out with one of those danglies though!

Okay, the uniform was fab...but the train...really? Did you not consider how all that steam may affect the ladies' hairdos? LOL!

Tess: I was counting on a swoon ;-)

Jacqueline: Hadn't thought of that, being a man, LOL! Also, watch for burning embers.

Cheri: History is my life!

Thank you all for the compliments, but, really, stealing a uniform was the easy part...the train, well that required planning!

I'm hoping to book a spot on your dance card. Sooner rather than later as it appears that I've already had a bit too much champagne (how did that happen?) Or maybe it's the combination of champagne and herbal smoke, ya think?

Let's dance!

Be sure to stay on the rails, General.
